SEMI Projects Double-Digit Growth in Chip Equipment Spending in 2014, 2015
July 09, 2014

SEMI (Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International) forecast that the worldwide semiconductor equipment market will grow 20.8% year-on-year to reach US$38.4 billion in 2014 and will continue to climb up another 10.8% in 2015 to top over US$42.6 billion, according to the organization's press release on July 7. Growth momentum is expected to come mainly from investments by foundry and logic fabs, NAND flash memory and DRAM makers, and expansion of advanced packaging capacity. By region, Taiwan will continue to be the world's largest semiconductor equipment spender, with US$11.6 billion for 2014 (9.5% YoY) and US$12.3 billion in 2015 (6.1% YoY).
